Sustainability does not stop at the product itself, it continues with the way products are packaged, handled and returned into the cycle. At RAUCH, packaging is more than a protective layer. It is a key lever to reduce environmental impact, conserve resources and contribute to a more circular economy. That is why we continuously work on making our packaging more efficient, more sustainable and fit for the future.
Rethinking packaging: Less material, more impact
Our approach is built on a clear principle, reduce what we use, optimize how we use it and close the loop wherever possible. This means focusing on:
By doing so, we not only lower our environmental footprint, but also improve transport efficiency and reduce resource use along our value chain. This approach delivers measurable results. Since 2015, we have already achieved a 14,6% reduction in the weight of our primary plastic packaging, corresponding to more than 1000 tons of plastic saved yearly.
A small cap, a big shift
Sometimes, even the smallest components can make a big difference. With the introduction of tethered caps, the European Union set a clear direction to reduce plastic waste. These caps remain attached to the packaging, helping to ensure that they are collected and recycled together with the bottle or beverage carton.
At RAUCH, this regulatory change became an opportunity. Instead of simply implementing the new requirement, we redesigned our packaging by making it lighter and helping to ensure that they are collected and recycled together with the bottle or beverage carton.
The result? A seemingly small change that adds up to a significant impact.
Moving towards circularity
Rauch has long been a pioneer in using recycled materials, for example by introducing beverages in 100% recycled PET (rePET) packaging and supporting the movement as one of the founding members of the PET2PET initiative.
By increasing out share of rePET and designing packaging for recyclability, we contribute to:
Today, our rePET share already stand at over 30% in our European markets, showing progress towards our long-term targets.
A continuous journey
For us, sustainable packaging is not a one-time project, it is a continuous process of improvement. Existing concepts are constantly reviewed, new technologies are evaluated and implemented, and solutions are scales across the organization.
At RAUCH, we believe that meaningful change often starts small. A lighter bottle. A smarter design. A cap that stays attached. Small details with measurable impact.
