Huge opportunities in neighbouring countries: Falling borders and new locations

The fall of the Iron Curtain radically changes the world order. Former raw ingredient suppliers become sales markets. Rauch seizes its opportunity, expands and opens a factory in Hungary in 1993. Rauch fruit juice is a sought-after product in the former "Eastern Bloc".

Rauch Austria is also bursting at the seams: production starts at the new factory in Nüziders in 1994. With accession to the EU in 1995, existing customs barriers finally fall and Rauch starts expanding into other EU countries.

On 27 June 1989 Austria's Foreign Minister Alois Mock and his Hungarian counterpart Gyula Horn cut the first symbolic pathway into the iron curtain. The subsequent political change in Eastern Europe also opened up completely new horizons for Rauch.
