Sustainability begins with the fruit

Sustainability is often most visible where quality has its origin. At RAUCH, that origin does not begin only with processing or filling, but where the fruit itself grows. In addition to working with numerous fruit growers and farmers, RAUCH also operates its own plantations in Poland, where apples and aronia berries are cultivated. For us, this is more than an agricultural site. It is a place where responsibility, quality standards and close connection to the raw material come together directly.

As one of the few companies in the industry, RAUCH largely manages key parts of the fruit juice value chain itself, from fruit processing through to juice filling. This close involvement creates transparency. It helps us better understand what goes into our products, how raw materials are grown and where sustainability can be shaped in concrete ways. Our own plantations are not an end in themselves. They reflect a clear ambition: not only to expect quality and responsibility, but to actively help shape them ourselves. The plantations in Poland follow strict criteria for sustainable cultivation. In its Sustainability Report, RAUCH highlights that the apples grown there are cultivated almost entirely without the use of plant protection products. Harvesting is also designed with care: it is carried out mechanically, gently and without unnecessary strain. This shows that sustainable cultivation at RAUCH is not understood in abstract terms, but is embedded very concretely in everyday processes – from caring for the crops to the harvest itself.

Another important aspect is direct processing on site. The fruit is processed in Poland and turned into high-quality semi-finished products for RAUCH brands and for demanding customers. This close connection between cultivation and processing is not only a quality advantage. It also stands for efficient processes, shorter routes within this stage of the value chain and closer control over origin and processing. For RAUCH, sustainability does not simply mean talking about standards, but translating them into processes in a way that allows quality and responsibility to work together. In addition, RAUCH explicitly links cultivation with environmental protection and biodiversity. The Sustainability Report emphasizes that owning plantations also brings a particular responsibility to protect the environment and species diversity. RAUCH also supports external initiatives for a more sustainable agricultural sector, such as the FSA-SAI programme, which promotes environmentally friendly and sustainable farming. This combination of direct action and external orientation makes it clear that sustainable agriculture at RAUCH is not viewed in isolation, but as part of a broader context of responsible sourcing and land stewardship.

For us, the plantations in Poland show very clearly what sustainable action means at RAUCH: closeness to the fruit, high quality standards, careful cultivation and the willingness to take responsibility where it begins. Sustainability is not just a goal on paper for us. It is shaped by many practical decisions – in the soil, in cultivation, in harvesting and in processing. That is exactly why we invest in structures that create long-term impact and connect quality with responsible action. This is how we understand sustainable development: grounded, effective and focused on what will continue to matter tomorrow.
