Shift Leader Canning

Supports the Canning Production function by supervising and coordinating the daily activities of Canning Production staff

Job Qualifications:

·        3 years of related job experience

·        Ability to apply standard production techniques, procedures and criteria

·        Ability to handle sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner

·        Ability to functionally operate a computer


Essential Functions

·        Maintains a safe and secure work environment, including correcting unsafe acts/conditions

·        Supports implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the food safety and handling system

·        Manages high speed canning line

·        Ensures canning runs are completed in-full, on time, with no quality defects

·        Supervises staff in all activities in accordance with operational policies and procedures, including safe operation of all canning line equipment, pumps, and tanks

·        Maintains and ensures adherence to sanitation practices

·        Tracks inventories of all canning materials, consumable supplies and finished goods daily

·        Supports and communicates with all departments influenced by canning operations, including, but not limited to, quality control, safety, production, lab, warehouse, and maintenance

·        Direct communication with canning production team, ensuring new developments affecting canning production are quickly and accurately transmitted

·        Initiates, reviews, masters and follows all standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for area of responsibility

·        Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals

·        Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards

·        Establishes and maintains an employee relations climate of trust and confidence, promoting achievement of plant objectives

·        Effectively responds to directions during emergencies by understanding emergency procedures, equipment and systems as necessary; Implements contingency plan to the level required

·        Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste


Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

·        Works in a manufacturing environment

·        This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.

·        Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices

·        Able to lift up to 40 pounds
