Important for pregnant women

“Folic acid” contributes decisively to the build-up of acids (DNS, RNS) which are the carriers of inherited material. Therefore, it plays an essential role in all growth processes in which new cells are created.

Folic acid and vitamin B12 are both responsible for the “maturing” of the red blood cells within the marrow. Pregnant women are often concerned with a lack of folic acid, especially if they have taken birth control pills for many years. During pregnancy a deficit of folic acid increases the risk of a miscarriage and certain abnormalities of the child.

“Folium” (lat.) means “the leaf” and indicates with this symbolism of the word the best sources for this vitamin: all green vegetables, especially spinach, endive and broccoli. Also cereals and wholemeal products should not be missing in the diet.
