The history of orange juice is nearly an endless story … The ancestors of the citrus fruits grew more than 20 million years ago in South China. Via the Indian Ocean they came to Eastern Africa where they crossed deserts with the help of mankind and finally got settled in the countries around the Mediterranean Sea. The orange seeds reached South America thanks to Spanish navigators no earlier than the beginning of the 16th century. But only in the seventies of the 20th century did the Brazilian orange become the raw material for a new branch, the production of juice with global importance.
